Public Education Educator Resources Dog Visit Police

Children often turn to pets for comfort when they feel anxious. They also teach children about responsibility and how to nurture. AKC Canine Ambassadors review dog safety by reviewing topics such as how to react when a strange dog approaches you, how to pet (and how not to pet) a dog, etc. These lessons help keep children safe and ensure that their interactions with dogs are positive ones. They also cover important information about being a responsible dog owner. This is a great tie in to a unit on being a good citizen and helps to ensure we are raising children that contribute to the animal world positively.
