The American Kennel Club (AKC®), a not-for-profit organization, the world’s largest purebred dog registry and leading advocate for dogs, is pleased to announce the recipients of the Junior Scholarships awarded to those who compete in Performance Events.  Scholarships totaling $10,000 were awarded to the following recipients.

“These Juniors have shown excellent dedication to their education and competing in Performance events,” said Mari-Beth O’ Neill, VP of Sport Services. “We are thrilled to support their academic goals and can’t wait to see what they accomplish.”

Michelle Hartman from Walnut Grove, NC: 

Michelle competes in Hunting Tests with Labrador Retrievers, having Qualified for the Master Nationals. Michelle is a member of the Carolinas Retriever Association and volunteers as a Marshall assistant and bird thrower. Michelle plans to study Agriculture Science.

Ava Hata from Menifee, CA:

Ava competes in Dachshund Field Trials, Retriever Hunting Tests and Fast Cat with her Dachshund, Chesapeake Bay Retriever and Flat-Coated Retriever. Ava is a member of the Dachshund Club of America, National Beagle Club, and the Western Flat-Coated Retriever Club. Ava attends UCLA and is studying Psychology Disability Studies.

O’Malley McGee from Auburn, AL:

O’Malley competes in Pointing Breed Hunting Tests with Pointers, Vizsla and Brittany as well as Fast Cat. O’Malley is member of the American Pointer Club, Vizsla Club of America, Vizsla Club of the Carolinas, and the Armenia Winds Pointing Breeds Club. O’Malley attends Auburn University and is studying Wildlife Ecology and Management.

Julia McKnight from Ponchatoula, LA:

Julia competes in Beagle Field Trials and is a member of the South Delta Beagle Club. Julia attends Southeastern Louisiana University pursuing a degree in Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment.

Kaitlynn Myers from Leslie, MO:

Kaitlynn competes in Retriever Hunting Tests, Fast CAT, and CAT with her Golden Retrievers. Kaitlynn is a member of the Dardenne Retriever Club and the Golden Retriever Club of America. Kaitlynn attends the University of Missouri studying Animal Science.

Karamia Quiriconi from Collierville, TN:

Karamia competes in herding events with her Rough Collie and is a member of the Mid South Herding Club of Mississippi. Karamia plans to study Economics.
