A new law is now in effect in Indiana that, among other provisions, requires certain rescues to register with the Indiana Board of Animal Health (BOAH).

A rescue must register with the state if during a period of one year they accept:
1) More than 12 dogs, or
2) More than nine dogs and three unweaned litters of puppies.

The registration may be completed online through the BOAH website.

More information on the new law and registration may be found on the BOAH website.  For questions or more information, contact the Indiana Board of Animal Health:

animalhealth@boah.in.gov or
(317) 544-2400 or (877) 747-3038

Those impacted by this legislation are encouraged to review the final bill in its entirety.  You may also view AKC’s previous alert for more background.
