On Thursday, March 7, the Georgia House of Representatives adopted House Resolution 1368, which commends the benefits and contributions of purebred dogs and recognizes May 1, 2024, as Purebred Dog Day in the State of Georgia. HR 1368 is in addition to Senate Resolution 344, which was adopted by the Georgia Senate on January 24 to recognize Purebred Dog Day. Read AKC’s previous alert on SR 344.

The American Kennel Club thanks Gail LaBerge, President of the Georgia Canine Coalition, for her hard work in support of these resolutions and her many years of dedication to protecting the well-being of dogs and the rights of responsible owners in Georgia.

Georgia dog owners are encouraged to send messages of thanks to their state Representatives for adopting HR 1368. You may also wish to thank Representatives Soo Hong of the 103rd District;  David Knight of the 134th District; Trey Rhodes of the 124th District; Noel Williams, Jr. of the 148th District; and John Corbett of the 174th District who sponsored HR 1368.
