At the 2019 AKC National Championship Presented by Royal Canin, over 900 dogs from all over the United States and beyond gathered in Orlando, Florida, to compete in the 7th AKC Obedience Classic and the 14th AKC Agility Invitational. Nine winning dog/handler teams bested all the rest to take home top honors in each class in their respective sport.

After a weekend of intense competition, the AKC Obedience Classic and AKC Agility Invitational winners were announced on December 15th, recognizing top dogs for their achievements in obeying commands, jumping through hoops, weaving between poles, and more, while highlighting handlers’ abilities in training, teamwork, and leadership.

AKC Obedience Classic Winners

The AKC Obedience Classic brought together 245 dog/handler teams from all across the country to compete across four different obedience classes – Novice, Open, Utility, and Masters. After a trying two days of competition, four teams stood above the others to take home the top prize in each class. The 2019 AKC Obedience Classic winners are:

  • Novice: Quantum’s She’s Red Hot CDX (“Zayna”), a Labrador Retriever handled by Petra Ford of Washington, NJ.
  • Open: Rapideye Wireless Dell CDX HSAS AX AXJ OF (“Dell”), a Border Collie handled by Mary Whorton of Rougemont, NC.
  • Utility: OTCH Victory’s Ketch’N A Storm OM1 BN JH (“Storm”), a Flat-Coated Retriever handled by Diane Orth of Beltsville, MD.
  • Masters: OTCH3 MACH4 Eastbrooke Jusdandy Blue Ridge Legacy UDX2 OM4 VER RE PT MXC MJC MXF TQX T2B (“Asher”), a Shetland Sheepdog handled by Vicky Gillow of Mebane, NC.

AKC Agility Invitational Winners

The AKC Agility Invitational brought together a staggering 701 dog/handler teams to navigate obstacles across five different jump height divisions – 8″, 12″, 16″, 20″, and 24″. Once the dust settled, five agile and athletic dog/handler teams emerged as victors. The 2019 AKC Agility Invitational Winners are:

  • 8″ – MACH2 Aerilee’s Songbird MXS MJG (“Lark”), a Papillon handled by Betsey Lynch of Delaware, OH.
  • 12″ – CH AGCH MACH12 Eaglehill Right On Tyme CDX BN GN RAE MXG3 PDG MJS4 PJC MFB2 TQX T2B7 CGC TKA (“Ty”), a Miniature Poodle handled by Cathi Winkles of Bloomfield Hills, MI.
  • 16″ – MACH5 Stargate’s Mogwai Espresso Bean MXB2 PAD MJS2 PJD MFB TQX T2B3 (“Java”), an Australian Shepherd handled by Cindy McElligott of Hoffman Estates, IL.
  • 20″ – AGCH MACH4 D’Nile Is Not A River BN RN MXS2 PDS MJS2 PJS MFG TQX T2B6 CGC TKA (“Nile”), a Border Collie handled by Jordan York of Evansville, IN.
  • 24″ – MACH4 Azotar’s Wonderful World Of Desi UD BN GN GO RE MXS2 PDS MJS2 PJS MFS TQX T2B3 (“Desi”), a Doberman Pinscher handled by Timmarti Putti of Las Vegas, NV.
