Do you need to transfer your new dog’s ownership into your name?  Do you want to do that without having to take a trip to the mailbox? Check out AKC Online Certificate Transfers!

Breeders and owners no longer have to write checks and mail documents, then wait for processing. The online transfer process is part of AKC’s continuing efforts to help our valued customers get the services they need quickly. And the online option increases the likelihood that all transfers will be recorded, which protects ownership and the AKC registry.

To further ensure accuracy, AKC will notify all previous owners by email that there has been a change. All new owners with a valid email address will receive a copy of the AKC E-Cert. The primary owner listed will receive the original paper AKC Certificate by mail.

“Online Certificate Transfers expedites processing time and gives dog owners an easier way to record changes in ownership,” AKC Executive Vice President Mark Dunn said.

Customers also have the opportunity to purchase additional products for the dog, including pedigrees and the lost and found recovery service. For more information see AKC Online Certificate Transfers.

No rules or requirements for transfers have changed; the AKC has made the process more efficient. With the properly completed and signed certificate from the previous owner, just go online to update the dog into your name and the name of any co-owners. Complete your transfer today!
