AKC Agility's In the Zone - April 2013

AKC Agility's In the Zone
Volume 3, Issue 1, April 2013
Hello, Agility Exhibitors!
The past few months have been a bit of a whirlwind; but amazing none the less. Both of the AKC Agility program's major events of the year, the Invitational and the Nationals, occurred within a three-month timeframe. Each record setting event has again raised the bar for the AKC Agility Department. Each of these events was the best of its type that we have ever had. Yes, the bar has been raised.

Let us again thank all of our volunteers who worked so tirelessly at both the Invitational and the Nationals. We appreciate every volunteer and we couldn't put on these events without them!

Wishing each of you lots of fun runs and always remember, have fun with your dogs!
We have winners and we have... more winners!
The seventh annual Agility Invitational and the second annual Juniors Agility Competition were held in conjunction with the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship and the National Obedience Invitational on December 15-16, 2012 in Orlando, FL.

How do you get invited to the Invitational you ask? Invitations are sent to the top five ranked agility dogs in each of the 175 AKC recognized breeds. In addition, FCI membership countries are also invited to send teams of three dogs per team to this event. The event qualifying period runs from July 1 to June 30 of the following year.

Congratulations to everyone who was invited to the Invitational, and special congratulations to the five Invitational winners!

2013 National Agility Championship
The Agility Invitational was barely in the record books when off we went to the National Championship.

The 2013 National Agility Championship was held in Tulsa, OK on March 15-17, 2013 and what an incredible event it was. With a record entry of almost 1400 dogs, we hit another new first by adding a ring and running 6 rings. It was so exciting to watch so many wonderful dog & handler teams! Congratulations to everyone who participated in such a special event!
